ABOUT FCAM

THE FEDERATION OF CHINESE ASSOCIATIONS OF MANCHESTER

FCAM is one of the oldest Chinese Associations in the north of England and one of the largest and most active Chinese business and community groups in the UK.  It was established in 1992 and is a non-profit making body consisting of various Chinese Association members based in and around Manchester and the North West.

Our aim is to encourage friendship and unity between Chinese societies and to raise the profile of Chinese communities in the UK.  We also seek to raise the understanding and appreciation of Chinese Education and culture and to enhance economic and cultural links between the UK and China.

To help achieve these aims, FCAM has for the last 28 years organised celebrations of major Chinese festivals such as Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day and Chinese New Year.  Our annual Chinese New Year celebration, usually held in Manchester’s Chinatown and Albert Square, has grown to become one of the largest in Europe and is regularly attended by over 100,000 people.   FCAM also regularly hosts delegations of high-ranking officers from the government of the Peoples Republic of China and works closely with Manchester Council and the Consulate-General of the Peoples Republic of China in Manchester on issues affecting the Chinese community.

As well as our association members, we also have a large number of individual members, many of whom are successful business people actively engaged in cross border trade between the UK and China.
